As a joint voice of the two major Churches in Germany, the Joint Conference Church and Development (GKKE) intends to increase the political weight, also in our country, of the interests of the One World. It was founded in 1973 as an ecumenical work forum. GKKE is committed to draw up joint statements on the questions of North-South policies and to enter into dialogue with political and social institutions.
The
bodies responsible for the Joint Conference Church and Development
are Bread for the World – the Church
Development Service of the Protestant Churches (EED) and the German
Commission for Justice and Peace. The JP office in Bonn also
represents the Catholic office of the GKKE. GKKE is presided by the
representatives of the two great Christian Churches at the seat of
the Federal Government.
